We just had a conversation with a trapper who informed us that he has been using two of the 12x12x36 Comstock Raccoon Cage traps for the past year.  He told us that he has caught at least 300 Raccoons with these two traps and but best yet, he has never had to replace a trigger wire!  When the Comstock wire trigger cage traps are set with the triggers hinged at the bottom of the trap and door closing from the side, Raccoons spend no time working the wires, but will simply walk on them.  We have heard this before.  Raccoons will sometimes work wires from the top or sides pretty hard, probably because they are “in their face.”  For some reason wires on the bottom remain intact for incredibly long periods, something worth trying.
