Ordering Online from Comstock Custom Cage, Shipping Rates Explained

This post is primarily about what to expect when ordering online from OUR website only and how it pertains to OUR online shipping rate estimator.   It appears that there was a bit of confusion and some misunderstanding about our earlier post in which we were merely attempting to explain issues we are having with our shipping rate estimator on our website.  I hope we can clarify all in this post.

Also, if you call directly and ask for a shipping rate we will get an exact quote for the actual shipping, which is exactly what we pay.

The reason for posting is so that we can maintain our existing customers and assure them that if the shipping rate estimator sometimes seems high, it could be, but understand this is only an estimate.  The rate on the estimator will not be the eventual rate you will be charged if it is higher than the actual shipping rate.

Again, this post concerns OUR website ONLY at Comstock Custom Cage and how shipping rates are calculated from our online shipping rate estimator on our website for traps ordered from us directly at Comstock Custom Cage.

The original post was in response to what some of our existing customers have told us.  When they compared our shipping rates with the rates of other distributors of Comstock Traps shipped directly from the factory, some customers said that our rates were, at times, significantly higher than what others were charging, which is distressing for us to hear and should not be the case.   We do not want this to be the reason you leave our website as the overcharge will be corrected.

We want to assure our existing customers and new customers that our rates are comparable to others.  The rate you will pay in the end will be the actual shipping rate.  No matter what the shipping rate estimator on our site comes up with for a shipping rate, the customer will pay only the actual shipping rate, the amount we pay to have a package shipped to your location.  Judy checks the estimated rate payed online by credit card and compares it to the actual shipping rate we payed to FedX.  If there has been an overcharge to the customer, the difference is refunded.

The reason for the original post was because we have lost some significant sales from existing customers in the past due to the inaccurate high shipping rates sometimes shown on our shipping rate estimator.  Understand that no one will pay more than what the actual shipping rate was that we payed for shipping, no matter what the estimator says.

By saying we do not mark up shipping, we are not in any way implying that others do, but just want it known that if there appears to be an overcharge on our estimator, the error resides in the rate estimator itself.  A shipping estimate may be farther out of line on large orders or where nesting of smaller cages or accessories will greatly reduce shipping costs.   If in error, Judy will correct the problem in the form of a refund.  We will consolidate traps on large orders to keep shipping to a minimum.

If you are having issues with ordering online for any reason or have questions about rates, call us first for an exact quote before you assume the worst.  We accept orders 7 days a week online or directly by phone.
