Here is yet another example of baitless trapping using a 9x11x18 Comstock, double door, live cage trap with a solid nose cone cover, this time utilizing a drift fence. With baitless trapping animals merely have to move to be captured, as no attractants are necessary. Since animals will readily follow structure, fences, walls, buildings etc., setting up a drift fence is a big asset in directing an animal into what is basically a blind set that you have constructed. An open fence of this type can be easily staked out at angles to the trap in a couple of minutes. Animals of all kinds will follow the fence, subtly showing them the way into the trap. With a wide open double door, cage trap that animals can see through in place, a skunk, woodchuck, rabbit, armadillo, opossum, raccoon etc. will simply attempt to pass through the opening covered with the double door trap. With no pan to step over or avoid, the wire trigger trap with powered doors will make the catch as the animal exits the fenced in section. Additionally, these sets require little to no maintenance, set and catch, no time wasted baiting or re-baiting traps, also saving on the expense of baits and lures.
