We just received a text from a Florida man who needed triggers wires for his beaver trap, nothing unusual in that, except that the wires had gotten abused, not by beavers, but by several coyotes.  He has used the Comstock Swim Through Beaver Cage Traps not to trap one coyote, but to take three coyotes so far with the traps set upright at 18 inches tall, sideways.

Harry’s wife has chickens, which are subject to predation from raccoons and coyotes in his area.  He used the cages along a fence to take 2 coyotes when the traps were set single door with bait and 1 other coyote when set using both doors, again with bait.  It’s always great news to hear of alternative uses for the beaver traps that no doubt have taken in excess of 10,000 beaver over a short few years.  When we hear these unusual stories from time to time we have to wonder how many other trappers have their own stories they have not shared about alternate usage.  In every way, all of the cage traps engineered with the patented wire trigger system and powered doors have greatly exceeded expectations.  No one could have known how versatile the combination in wire trigger with powered doors would be.

I guess two of the coyotes were juveniles, while the last was an adult male.  We hope that trappers will continue to share their experiences and photos so that we can pass them along.  It gives everyone thinking of trying something new the impetus to step away from the norm and experiment.

Thanks for sharing.
