When beaver carry sticks to the dam at times they may swim into a cage trap, which is not problematic when the sticks are small in diameter, about an inch, plus or minus. More than once we have had a beaver caught a swim through cage trap with long sticks protruding from the trap, doors locked and beaver secure inside. Because the door is a “free floating” unit with gaps at the bottom and sides, sticks can be caught while not affecting capture. The doors will still close and lock properly.
