We are coming up on that time of year for skunks, mating season in February and March. Because females often den up under buildings, males, many males may visit them. Trails in the snow are a give away. Our double door 9x11x24 inch wire trigger, powered door cage traps used with a metal nose cone can be as a Positive Set at the den opening or in a “blind trail set” to catch them coming or going . Better yet, there is no need for bait or lure which goes a long way in avoiding non target animals. The three sided metal nose cone keeps the skunks from spraying when carried back to a vehicle.
Additionally, when the weather warms and woodchucks, groundhogs, emerge the same trap with nose cone can be used in the exact same manner, at the den site, in trails as well as at dig outs under fences. Again, no bait is required. I have not used baits for either of these animals when set this way in 18 years.
