Lately we’ve been busy keeping up with both custom and non-production cage traps made to order in our shop in New York. Though we offer a 9x11x36 multipurpose with universal application in the production line of traps coming directly from the factory in Wisconsin that can work for everything from woodchucks to skunks, raccoons, fisher, opossums, armadillos and fox, we sometimes get requests for something a bit different. In this case the request was for a larger 12×16.6×48 inch multipurpose cage trap, much taller and wider, specifically designed for red and grey fox. Though many dozens of fox have been taken in the 9×11 multipurpose traps in positive den sets, the taller, wider trap may provide a higher level of confidence, even in trail sets. This trap has the same features as the 9×11 with the four way nose cone attached to a trap. The catch box on the 12×16.5 trap is 36 inches long, 6 inches longer than the catch box on the 9×11. Also, the nose cone end with the four openings is 12 inches long, 2 inches longer than the built in nose cone on the 9×11. These doors extend 10 inches beyond the end frames of the cage, which means the overall reach of the trap is some 56 inches. Powered doors will help push a fox or whatever the targetted animals are into the catch compartment.
Of course these traps incorporate the same reliable, consistent patented wire trigger that were the inspiration for the rugged powered double door cage traps for which we are known.
