With pint sized baby skunks there is no need for large traps. In fact, large pan type traps might not even work. The 6 traps set opposite a skunk den site were 6x6x26 and 5x5x24 inch traps, five of the larger, one smaller. Since no less than 4 baby skunks had been sighted, I set 6 traps at the den site, with the hopes of catching them all in one check and wrapping up the job. As it turned out, we got five out of four, LOL. Glad we had set extra traps. The irony, three of the larger traps each held one skunk, while the smaller trap had two.
The traps were set in two rows of 3 opposite each other, with blocking at the end and a cover over the whole works. The plan worked great, got them all. These swing panel traps are consistent, with a light trigger, in a trap that will not only take baby animals like skunks, woodchucks or raccoons, but will catch squirrels, chipmunks, voles, even mice, along with muskrats in water, fish and turtles.
