There are all sorts of rodents across the country, some of which have yet to be trapped with Comstock Cages.  Knowing animals and cages, we sometimes recommend traps for “new” animals for the first time.  A woman in Colorado has some prairie dogs that she wanted to move.  We recommended a 6×6 Comstock Swing Panel Trap with a nose cone to be set over the den site.

The next day she said she had caught and moved 8 babies, which seemed a bit odd as it was nearly August, at a time when the young would not be really small.  We said great.  Send a picture.  She didn’t have any, but took a shot of “prairie dog” number nine and emailed it.

We thanked her but had to mention that the animal in the picture was a thirteen lined ground squirrel, to which the reply was, “Are you sure?”  Yep, we are.  She came back with, “I hope they are o.k. because I let them go in prairie dog holes.”

Bottom line, the trap worked perfectly.
